Iranian Nanotechnology Firm Produces Water-Repellent Polyurethane Paint for Wood
“Using the nano-based water-repellent polyurethane paint on wooden surfaces increases the durability of wood,” said Hossein Najafkhani, a member of the board of directors of Behsan Exir Fam company.
"The production capacity of this product is 4 tons per day, and at present, we produce 2 tons daily which is presented to retailers via our representative in Tehran,” he added.
“In the past, special paints were imported to Iran from foreign companies from Finland, Germany, Canada Belgium and Turkiye which only had anti-UV properties and another product should have been used to create waterproof and hydrophobic properties; to settle this problem, we supplied paints to the market with both anti-UV and water-repellent properties,” Najafkhani said.
In a relevant development in July, an Iranian nanotechnology company succeeded in production of gloss polyurethane paint which can be used in aviation industry.
‘Giti Asa Industrial and Chemical Manufacturer’ company has made the nanoparticle-reinforced polyurethane paint with a short drying time, high chemical stability, and sufficient resistance to UV radiation.
The addition of nanoparticles to polyurethane matrix has led to higher flexibility, enhanced mechanical properties and stronger adherence to the underlying substrate.
The nano-based product can be used as finishing paint for facilities and cabin of the aircrafts.
