“Production of medicine, cosmetic and health products, food and drink based on traditional medicine and new scientific findings from plants are among the most important activities of our company,” said Azardokht Khakpour, the managing-director of a knowledge-based company.

She described the facial and genital herpes ointment as a knowledge-based product of her company, and said, “The number of patients suffering from herpes is increasing, and since this disease cannot be cured, the medicine can be used for patients.”

“The ointment is highly effective in controlling the symptoms, preventing the progress and reducing the complications of the disease,” Khakpour said.

In a relevant development in June, a technology company in Iran started using nanomaterials in producing anti-pathogen ointment and also creams to reduce the appearance of pimples on the body.

Ebrahim Akbarzadeh, the managing director of a technology company and a professor of Khajeh Nasir Toosi University of Technology (KNTU) said that his company has received a nanoscale certificate for gold, silver and iron nanoparticles, adding, “These nanomaterials are sold to various companies for use in their products.”

“In addition to the production of these nanomaterials, we tried to make products ourselves. Considering the positive effect of gold nanoparticles in production of collagen for skin rejuvenation, we have developed a formulation for the production of a cream, which is currently in the process of receiving licenses from the Food and Drug Organization,” he added.

“We also used silver nanoparticles to formulate creams with anti-pathogen properties and reducing pimples on the body,” Akhbarzadeh went on to say.

The managing director of the company emphasized that the produced nanomaterials are also used for production of wound dressings.
