"The increase in the forecast for this year's crop is due to favorable weather conditions and better crop yields than expected," the association said in a statement on its website.

Although Ukrainian farmers have reduced planting areas this year by 2.2 million hectares, the 2023 harvest will exceed the previous year's yield by about 3 million tons, the statement said.

The association estimated that Ukrainian farmers will reap 26.9 million tons of corn, 20.2 million tons of wheat and 13.9 million tons of sunflower seeds this year.

Ukraine has the potential to export 48 million tons of grain and oilseeds in the 2023-2024 marketing year, the UGA said.

According to it, Ukraine harvested 73.8 mln tons of grains and oilseeds in 2022, and exported 58 million tons in the 2022-2023 marketing year which ended on June 30.
