Purification of Deep Water by Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm
“Purification of deep water No. 3 of Sistan and Balouchestan province by using the combined technology of reverse osmosis and electrodialysis is one of the achievements of one of the knowledge-based companies which could meet a part of the water needs of the province by purifying 95% of water during the current water crisis,” said Ali Najafi, a senior expert working for the knowledge-based firm.
He explained that in technologies like RO, only 60% of water can be purified, adding that the technology presented by the knowledge-based company is capable of purifying water up to 95%, and this technology will help to reduce the wastewater caused by water purification.
Najafi named the device built in his company as ‘reverse dialysis system’ which is designed based on the ion exchange system, and said, “In this system, ions are separated and removed and water will be purified. The designed system has no restrictions on the water input and is able to separate elements like salt, nitrate and arsenic from water, and it can be installed in all provinces of the country.”
In a relevant development in June, another knowledge-based company in Iran had also succeeded in manufacturing a portable water purification device that can separate 99.5% of pathogenic agents from water.
“We succeeded in producing a water purification device with the capability to remove pathogenic agents which can be used for surface water purification,”Reyhaneh Zaker Alhosseini, a senior expert in material engineering and material protection of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.
Noting that the new device separates all airborne particles, bacteria, viruses and pathogenic agents from contaminated surface water, she said, “These pathogens are removed from surface water like lakes, rivers, ponds or hot springs with a single purification step by filters mounted on the purification device.”
Zaker Alhosseini said that the water purification device does not need any electricity, adding, “This device weighs approximately 20 kg and can provide drinking water for 2,000 people with a flow rate of 500 liters per hour. The filters used in this device can be re-washed by using 5% of the purified water.”
She underlined that the device is very efficient and economical and produces high quality water, adding, “Also, it can remove and purify all pathogens from water at a rate of 99.5% by using physical methods without adding any chemicals.”
