“This device is capable of reducing water consumption by 80%, and since, there are nearly 15 million users of water distribution system in Iran, it is possible to introduce and install the device for them to significantly decrease water consumption,” said Ebrahim Azizi, the executive manager of the project.

Noting that the device works based on recirculation of water, he said, “Research shows that a significant part of domestic wastewater which is produced by washing dishes, clothes, or bathing, can be reused if treated.”

“After detecting the healthy and unused water, the device separates it from the polluted water, and after purification, it is returned to the consumption stream by a special alloy,” Azizi said.

He reminded that the project can be implemented in hospitals, houses, crisis shelters, parks, green spaces, and hotels.

In a relevant development, a knowledge-based company in Iran managed to produce membranes at half the cost of foreign samples with application in purification operations.

Sina Maleki, a member of the board of directors of ‘Sepenta Polymer Sharif’ company, said that the membranes produced in his company can be used for wastewater treatment, gray water treatment and water recycling for membrane bioreactor systems, adding, “Flat membranes are less clogged than halofiber membranes and therefore, at present, they are used in most of wastewater treatment systems.”

It is worth to say that Membrane is used in water and wastewater treatment system as a phase through which the separated components in the solution pass at different speeds.

Given their wide application, these membranes are made of PVDF and PS polymers with special formulations and are used in various industries. Removal of dissolved solids, bacteria, viruses and other microbial substances from water is possible by this method.
