Iran Registers Considerable Growth in Steel, Sponge Iron Exports in 1st 2 Months of Current Year
According to the figures released by the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA), 1,414 million tons of steel ingots were exported in Farvardin and Ordibehesht of this year of 1402 in the Iranian calendar (March 22-May 22, 2023), which shows largest volume of steel exports as compared to the first two months of last year of 1401. But in comparison with the first two months of 1401, the volume of steel data-x-items exported this year recorded the lowest growth rate of 33%. During Farvardin and Ordibehesht last year, 1.066 million tons of steel ingots (intermetallic steel) were exported.
According to those statistics, 501,000 tons of steel products were exported during the first two months of this year, which is 40.3% more than the 357,000 tons exported in the first two months of last year.
Within two months of this year, 407,000 tons of long steel products (sections) were exported, indicating an increase of 35.2% compared to 301,000 tons exported in the same period last year.
The export of flat steel sections increased from 56,000 tons in the first two months of 1401 to 94,000 tons in the same first two months of this year, which shows an increase of almost 68% in the export of those steel products.
The growth in exports of sponge iron have set a new record high as the volume increased by 204%. While almost no sponge iron was exported in the first two months of last year, the volume of its exports was recorded to be 204,000 tons in Farvardin and Ordibehesht of 1402.
