Iranian Official: Shipping of Goods by IRISL Increases 20%
“The shipping company has seen a 20% growth in transportation of goods in the first three months of this year,” Khiabani said, addressing a ceremony to commemorate the International Maritime Day.
“Last year was very prosperous for maritime transportation and the IRISL has achieved success and goals,” he added.
“Our performance in the field of transportation has grown by 20% compared to last year, and this year, we plan to grow in the field of trade with the efforts we are making since trade plays an essential role in transportation,” Khiabani said.
“In the field of logistics, we have also been entrusted with responsibilities to become a multifaceted logistics and transportation company which carries goods from the Far East to the countries of the region, including India and China, and the countries of Far Asia, including Russia and Kazakhstan,” he stated.
Earlier this month, Managing Director of the Caspian Sea Shipping Company Kambiz Jahanbani had announced that Iran’s trade balance in the Caspian Sea has turned positive, showing that the country’s exports in the region outpace the imports.
Jahanbani referred to regular sea voyages to transport cargo from Iran's Anzali port to Russia, and said, “For the first time, the transportation balance in the Caspian Sea Shipping Company has turned positive and the amount of exports has exceeded imports.”
“Thanks to the continuous efforts of the Caspian Sea Shipping Fleet and in line with the economic policies of the 13th government and the plans of the Trade Development Organization of Iran, the transportation balance in this shipping company has turned positive and the amount of exports has increased compared to the imports,” he added.
Jahanbani said that itineraries of the Caspian Sea shipping vessels were regulated based on imports, adding that now all the itineraries of the Caspian Sea shipping fleet have become export-oriented.
