Nanostructured Coating Used in Iran for Making Decorative Door Handles

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian company used a special nanostructured coating to produce attractive door handles with a decorative view.
News ID : 2821

The product is a door handle whose surface is coated by a nanostructured film through the physical vapor deposition (PVD) technique.

Such a coating can prevent the blackness and wear of the handle arising from the long-time exposure to the hands and develop long-lasting colors.

Applying a nanostructured coating on the door handles can result in enhancing the hardness, wear resistance and corrosion, preventing the color change due to the long-time exposure and developing a strong adhesion to the substrate.

The product can be used as handle for the house and kitchen's doors and door handles in interior decoration.

Physical vapor deposition (PVD), sometimes called physical vapor transport (PVT), describes a variety of vacuum deposition methods which can be used to produce thin films and coatings on substrates including metals, ceramics, glass, and polymers. PVD is characterized by a process in which the material transitions from a condensed phase to a vapor phase and then back to a thin film condensed phase.

The most common PVD processes are sputtering and evaporation. PVD is used in the manufacturing of data-x-items which require thin films for optical, mechanical, electrical, acoustic or chemical functions. Examples include semiconductor devices such as thin-film solar cells, microelectromechanical devices such as thin film bulk acoustic resonator, aluminized PET film for food packaging and balloons, and titanium nitride coated cutting tools for metalworking. Besides PVD tools for fabrication, special smaller tools used mainly for scientific purposes have been developed.
