Islamic Azad University Takes Long Stride towards Utilizing Renewable Energies
The University has recently signed an important deal with Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization based on which the Islamic Azad University will establish solar power plants in its academic units.
Mahmoud Kamani, the head of Iran’s Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Organization, elaborated on joint cooperation with the Islamic Azad University, saying, “Our cooperation will be in various fields of education and research and the construction of power plants. The construction of a power plant in every university can be carried out in different ways, and the university can build the power plant in its own field and even trade electricity with the industry.”
“We can also cooperate in the field of electricity optimization, and the energy saved by the university can be sold in the electricity optimization market at a reasonable price,” he added.
Also, Shirani, the manager of energy projects of Islamic Azad University, stated that the deal has two main axes; one is the creation of solar power plants in all universities, and the other is optimization of energy consumption in the University.
Renewable energy is energy produced from sources like the sun and wind that are naturally replenished and do not run out. Renewable energy can be used for electricity generation, space and water heating and cooling, and transportation.
Non-renewable energy, in contrast, comes from finite sources that could get used up, such as fossil fuels like coal and oil.
Renewable energy sources, such as biomass, geothermal resources, sunlight, water, and wind, are natural resources that can be converted into several types of clean and usable energies.
