Brazil Forecasts Record 2023 Harvest of over 302 Million Tons
According to the Systematic Survey of Agricultural Production, released by IBGE, the area harvested this year with these products will reach 76.4 million hectares, 4.3 percent more than 2022.
Rice, soybeans and corn will account for 92.3 percent of the Brazilian harvest and 87.3 percent of the planted area.
Meanwhile, soybean production is expected to reach 149.1 million tons, 24.7 percent more than last year, while corn production will reach 119.9 million tons, an increase of 8.8 percent.
Wheat is estimated at 9.9 million tons, 1.7 percent less than in 2022, while coffee will reach 3.3 million tons, 5.5 percent more than last year.
Carlos Barradas, who was in charge of the survey, detailed that in general this year's harvest benefited from more rain in almost the entire country, with the exception of the Southern region.
