Iranian Knowledge-Based Company Improves Food Quality Using Nanotechnology

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company developed a product that is capable of improving food quality by eliminating pests and plagues.

Azadeh Marzban, the managing director of Nano Fidar Nikan Pars Company which was established in 2020, told ANA that her company produces innovative packages using nanotechnology to improve food quality.

“The product also reduces food waste and helps strategic management of food production,” she added.

The company was founded at the science and technology park of Qom province and got a license in 2021 for implementing knowledge-based projects.

It holds certificates for packaging agricultural products, especially smart packaging using nanotechnology, she added.

The company also produces antibacterial materials for greenhouses, antibacterial and antioxidant solutions, and antibacterial packages for dealing with pests and plagues.

Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council has developed 915 products which are exported to 49 countries on five continents of the world.

Iran’s nanotechnology has obtained a fourth place in the world, led by knowledge-based companies and the Nanotechnology Innovation Council which is an entity under the supervision of the presidential office.

Currently, nanotech products are developed in 15 industrial fields based on domestic capabilities and have made their way to the international markets.

During the past Iranian calendar year (March 2021-March 2022), Iran gained 115 billion rials (about $370,000) from nano-products sales.

Among nano-products developed in Iran, 42 percent are related to construction, 17 percent to petroleum and related products, 13 percent to automaking, and 10 percent to optoelectronics.

Saeed Sarkar, an official with the Vice Presidency for Science and Technology, said 725 kinds of nanotechnology products are being manufactured in the country and sent to the global markets.

The official went on to say that China, India, Indonesia, Syria, Turkey, and Iraq import Iranian nanotechnology products and equipment.
