Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Manufactures System for Disinfection of Hospital Equipment in 90 Minutes
A knowledge-based company in Iran produced a disinfection device for hospital equipment which works at a high speed, low temperature, and in completely dry conditions without causing unpleasant odors, according to the information center of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.
This device uses a separate cartridge for each sterile cycle which reduces the wastage of hydrogen peroxide in case of an incomplete cycle.
Water vapor and oxygen remain after the device completes the sterile process which are completely compatible with the environment and do not harm users and patients.
The process of sterilizing by the device is highly fast and there is no need for initial preparation, which significantly speeds up the workflow in hospitals and medical centers.
The basis of the device’s operation is plasma sterilization, which is considered as a low-temperature sterile method to increase the efficiency of using medical equipment.
In this method, there is no need for aeration, and the maximum working temperature is 50 degrees Celsius and the sterilization lasts 60 to 90 minutes.
In a relevant development earlier this year, Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company managed to produce autoclave device which is one of the most important laboratory equipment used for sterilization.
Autoclave is one of the most important devices and laboratory equipment applied for sterilization by using the heat of pressurized steam, Amin Omidi, a member of the Board of Directors of Fanavaran Ayandehnegar Pouya Pars company, said.
“Autoclave is mostly used in medicine for sterilization and in chemical industry for making coatings and rubber packing,” he added.
“Holding clips and unbreakable and antibacterial lids are used in the autoclave produced by our company to provide a safe device to the user,” Omidi said, adding that the Iran-made device is sold half the price of foreign models.
