New Generation of Iran-Made Medicinal Probiotic Products Capable of Improving Overall Health

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iranian researchers at a knowledge-based company produced a new generation of medicinal products based on probiotics to improve the whole body’s health.

Naqmeh Hadidi, the head of board of directors of the knowledge-based company, described probiotics as a new generation of cells that have the ability to connect to certain cells of the body.

“Probiotics are used for the health of the body system and these products can treat diseases related to the digestive system, oral mucosa, upper respiratory tract, stomach ulcer in adults and children, etc.,” she said.

“Probiotic products reduce allergic reactions, autoimmune disorders like ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and infections like infectious diarrhea, helicobacter pylori, and skin and vaginal infections,” Hadidi added.

In a relevant development earlier this month, the Iranian researchers developed probiotic yogurt with the properties of increasing the shelf life of the product by using a bacterial yeast.

“Probiotics are live microorganisms, bacteria and yeasts that are good for human body, especially digestive system,” said Hossein Hassannejad, the head of an Iranian research team.

He added that probiotics settle in different parts of the body (mainly the intestines) with their biological activity, mainly by maintaining and improving the balance of intestinal microbial flora (gut microbiota) among microorganisms.

He also said that yogurt is highly popular in Iran that’s why the team conducted research in the company to produce a high quality product for the Iranian people.

Hassannejad stated that they discovered a solution to increase the shelf life of probiotics in yogurt, adding, “The produced probiotic yogurt contains Kluyveromyces marxianus yeast and has probiotic components and properties which are good for our health. This technology can be used in the field of industrial and semi-industrial production of yogurt, and its application improves the shelf life and increases the number of probiotics in the system, as well as preventing mold and spoilage, and finally, a healthy product can be presented to the society.”
