Uzbekistan to Build 250 Micro Hydropower Plants
TEHRAN (ANA)- Uzbekistan plans to build 250 micro hydroelectric power plants to diversify energy sources and develop clean energy amid rising domestic demand.
Promising sites for the construction of these plants have already been identified and submitted to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Uzbek president's press service said.
The power plants are expected to generate 675 million kilowatt hours of electricity and save 200 million cubic meters of gas per year, official data showed.
Such a move will allow solar and wind energy to be sold at attractive prices, benefiting private businesses in the clean energy sector of the populous Central Asian state, the president said.
