“This device has been proposed to be used in the field of nanotechnology and is an easy, simple and affordable method for producing nanopowders and cold coatings on metal substrates,” said Mohammad Mohammadi Massoudi, a faculty member of the Science and Technology department and the director of the Nanobiophotonics Research Laboratory of University of Tehran.

“Preparation of nanopowder with appropriate size distribution and at the same time with high efficiency and maintaining the desired properties has always been a concern for researchers. This device simultaneously uses the force of the bullet and ultrasonic to prepare nanopowder with different ceramic and metal compounds while maintaining the properties,” he added.

Mohammadi Massoudi described high efficiency as well as controlling the size of nanoparticles by changing the frequency and grinding time as advantages of the device, and stated, “This device crushes nanoparticles in a single direction and makes mechanical alloying possible.”

“The device can also be used in various industries, including metallurgy, photonics, component manufacturing, and auto-making.”

Iran currently ranks 4th in the world in the production of nano-science. This comes as part of Iran's Nanotechnology Initiative Council’s first development plan, which has sought to advance nano-science in the country.

The second 10-year plan, which started in 2015, seeks to move nano-science from paper to the industry. In the meantime, the Nanotechnology Initiative Council is working on a third plan to trade Iranian nano-products in the global market.
