‘Plasma Nano’ startup has produced the special nano coatings which is applied on the surface of the fruit to boost its shelf life without changing its shape and taste. These transparent and antibacterial nano fruit preservation coatings significantly increase the storage time of all kinds of fruits without altering the quality and taste of the fruit.

“Agricultural and food products are extremely sensitive and the possibility of spoiling them is very high. We first identified this problem in the agricultural industry, found a way to settle it, and finally manufactured a product based on nanotechnology,” said Mohammad Davari, the manager of the startup.

“In addition to maintaining the quality of agricultural and food products, this preservative coating also increases their shelf life. Nanotechnology has been used in this product in the form of plant-based food additives,” he added.

Iran currently ranks 4th in the world in the production of nano-science. This comes as part of Iran's Nanotechnology Initiative Council’s first development plan, which has sought to advance nano-science in the country.

The second 10-year plan, which started in 2015, seeks to move nano-science from paper to the industry. In the meantime, the Nanotechnology Initiative Council is working on a third plan to trade Iranian nano-products in the global market.
