"The FDM type 3D printer is a product that was presented in this exhibition. It has many applications in different industries, including molding, sculpture making, medicine, dentistry, architecture and many other industries that require molding. In other words, this product does not have limited functionality and is applicable in any industry which needs molding," Saeed Ebrahimi said on the sidelines of the 23rd Exhibition of Research, Technology, and Techmarket in Tehran.

FDM technology is the process of making physical objects by building up successive layers of material. A thermoplastic filament is pushed through an extruder and deposited where needed in each layer to complete the desired object.

Elaborating on the performance of the 3D printer, he said, "Each of different jobs that need molding can simulate the desired product in its special software to be converted into the G code.”

Ebrahimi noted that the 3D printer has a foreign model in the market, adding, "This product is mainly imported from China and it is available in the market. But our efforts have been focused on providing the customer with a better quality product and commercialization.”

The 23rd Exhibition of Research, Technology, and Techmarket was inaugurated at Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds on December 10 and wrapped up on December 14.

Islamic Azad University participated in the exhibition with 300 research and technological products.
