Iran army says it launches fresh drone attacks on US bases in region
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Army’s public relations office said the strikes were conducted as part of “Operation Thunderbolt.” The attacks reportedly targeted ammunition warehouses at Camp al-Adiri, as well as headquarters buildings, ammunition depots and several connecting bridges at Ali al-Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The statement added that Iranian drones also struck fuel storage tanks at Jordan’s al-Azraq Air Base.
According to the Iranian Army, Camp al-Adiri serves as a major support and force-reorganisation centre for U.S. troops, while Ali al-Salem is considered one of Washington’s key hubs for aerial logistics and coordination in the Persian Gulf region. The Army also described al-Azraq as an important U.S. facility used to support regional control and military operations across West Asia.
The Iranian Army described the attacks as a “crushing and impact-focused response” directed at strategic installations, command-and-control centres, logistical infrastructure and air-defence systems belonging to what it called the “terrorist American army.”
It further warned that Iran’s national resolve, backed by the determination of its Armed Forces, would confront any power seeking to challenge the country.
