IRGC Navy Warns of Response to Any Renewed U.S. Aggression
Mohammad Akbarzadeh, Deputy Commander of the IRGC Navy for Political Affairs, made the remarks on Tuesday in the southern Iranian city of Minab, the site of a deadly incident during what Iran describes as a U.S. and Israeli “unprovoked war of aggression” on February 28.
He said that in the event of any further U.S. military action against Iran, the IRGC Navy would deploy newly developed capabilities.
Akbarzadeh emphasized that these measures would include “smart targeting” systems and warned that Iranian forces would target and disable large enemy naval assets. He added that Iran would also utilize other instruments of power across what he described as the broader “resistance fronts.”
According to Iranian officials, the country’s armed forces previously responded to recent escalations with around 100 waves of retaliatory strikes targeting sensitive American and Israeli positions across the West Asia region.
These counterstrikes, conducted in part alongside regional allied groups, reportedly contributed to a temporary pause in U.S. operations announced on April 7, which was later extended.
The official further noted that U.S. sources have acknowledged that Iran continues to maintain significant military capabilities despite recent conflicts.
