Iranian Specialists Indigenize Roll Forming Technology
“During the roll forming process, metal sheets are placed on the shafts of the machine, which are restrained by bearings, and then the sheets are produced in the desired form, considering the type of mold and the method,” said Shahram Aalipour, a Ph.D. graduate of mechanical engineering.
Noting that sheet roll forming is a new, optimal and completely flexible method which makes production of any design on metal sheets possible, he said, “We enjoy the technical know-how of roll forming production line and made possible the designing and manufacturing of different dimensions needed by the production units.”
“The unique feature of this line is having a PLC controller and easy instructions for the operator,” Aalipour said.
“Roll forming is used in production of household appliances, military industries, public vehicles, train wagons, heavy machinery body, forming of metals and sheets, profile, rail guard, the industry for constructing and equipping solar power plants, food and pharmaceutical products storage equipment, and warehouses (equipment for storing documents),” he added.
Sheet roll forming is a process in which steel sheets such as galvanized, cold sheets and steel are transformed into different shapes by a special machine. The products manufactured by sheet roll forming can be shaped in any required form, including metal profiles, tubes, patterned sheets, etc.
In general, roll forming refers to the methods of changing the shape of a metal sheet with the help of a roll forming machine.
