Iran's National Science Promotion System Unveiled
“We have launched Iran’s National Science Promotion System, which makes scientific content available to the public in a common language,” said Mohammad Hassanzadeh.
“During its nearly 6 decades of activity, IranDoc has provided valuable services for the development of the country's science and technology ecosystem, and today, in cooperation with the Iranian Science Promotion Association, it is taking steps towards expanding scientific culture,” he added.
Stressing that science promotion is a strategic investment for development, Hassanzadeh said, “In today's world, science promotion is no longer a mere cultural or educational activity, but rather a national and infrastructural investment for the progress of countries. Countries that stand at the frontiers of science and technology were first able to establish a link between science and society by promoting science.”
“If universities are to play a more effective role in the country's industrial and social development, they should go through the path of promoting and popularizing science. Promoting science is a bridge between researchers and industrialists, between laboratories and factories, and between theory and practice,” he noted.
IranDoc is a national institute affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology (MSRT), Iran. It has five main missions: research, scientific and technical information management, education, scientific cooperation, and supporting science and technology policy-making.
Having nearly 60 years of experience, IranDoc now exploits over 100 experts, nine research groups in three departments, and three research laboratories. It has developed one of the biggest Persian scientific and technical databases in Iran with more than one million records. This database and many other websites in IranDoc have thousands of users daily.
Based on these unique competencies, IranDoc provides the community with a bunch of knowledge-based services in three categories of research and technology, information and information technology, and consulting and management.
