“This product is used for the construction and packaging industry by using fungal agricultural waste and other additives, in addition to wheat straw or rice straw, and replaces polystyrene foams or styrofoam,” Amir Sabet, the managing director of Rasen Novin Tejarat Asia, a knowledge-based company that operates with the support of Isfahan branch of Islamic Azad University, said in an interview with the ANA news agency.

Sabet said one of our biggest competitive advantages of their composite is that it is low-priced, which is due to the use of low price and recycled natural materials.

“Because natural and recycled materials are used, it returns to nature's cycle within 120 to 150 days.

It has very high biocompatibility and we have taken measures to obtain approval from Iran’s Department of Organization and we are about to obtain this approval,” he said.

He further said that being an insulation against heat is one of the other advantages that make their product stand out among its rivals and pointed out, “Biodegradable biopolymer composites withstand temperatures of 500 to 600 degrees Celsius. It is moisture, light and sound insulation. Low weight, low price, high biocompatibility are the advantages of this product.”

He further said that their recyclable composite is a good replacement for polystyrene foams or Styrofoam which are usually white and has many different uses.

The managing director of Rasen Novin Tejarat Asia said that they need funding and investment like many other newly-established knowledge-based companies and startups.

“We need funding and facilities. We want devices to enter the semi-industrial and then industrial stage from this knowledge-based phase.

If there is space where we can use suitable facilities and attract investors, we would welcome it,” Sabet said while explaining the reasons for attending the Asreh Omid.

The national Asreh Omid Event was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams and startups.
