Iran’s largest energy construction company, MAPNA Group announced that the power plant project to increase electricity production and manage energy consumption, especially in Tehran province, as well as to increase the efficiency of gas power plants by converting them to a combined cycle.

This project has been launched with an investment volume of 275 million euros, and for the first time in the country, three gas units and one steam unit were connected to each other in a 3-3-1 arrangement (three gas turbines, three boilers, and one steam turbine).

The final capacity of the Roudshour power plant increased to 1,134 MW with the implementation of this project. In this project, electrical energy is produced without consuming additional fuel by using the exhaust heat of the gas units and directing it to the steam section equipment, which results in an annual fuel saving of 700 million cubic meters.

With the construction of this steam unit, the efficiency of the power plant will increase to about 57 percent. The average direct employment during the construction period of this project is 600 people and the average indirect employment during the construction period of the steam unit of the Rudshour power plant is over 1,500 people.

This power plant is located next to Tehran and Markazi provinces as the country’s energy consumption hub; therefore, the construction of this steam unit will play a key role in maintaining the stability and improving the voltage of the regional power grid.

Construction of Roudshour combined cycle power plant’s steam cycle was commissioned to MAPNA Group in August 2017.
