Iran-Made Nano Sachets Improve Quality of Agricultural Products for Export

TEHRAN (ANA)- Technologists at an Iranian company managed to reduce post-harvest waste of agricultural products, preserve the quality of fruits, and boost Iran’s exports by producing nano-absorbent ethylene sachets.

The sachets produced by the company use nano-structured absorbents to absorb ethylene gas. Ethylene is a gas that is naturally produced in many fruits and vegetables and acts as a ripening hormone. The accumulation of this gas in a closed environment can accelerate the ripening process of fruit, resulting in spoilage and reduction in its shelf life. By effectively absorbing this gas, ethylene nano-absorbent sachets slow down the ripening process and ultimately increase the shelf life of products.

These sachets look similar to common silica gel sachets, but their function is completely different. Each sachet contains 1 to 5 grams of absorbent material, which can be prepared from pure nanocompounds, or as polymer and zeolite composites (in powder, granule or extruded form). These structures are designed specifically for the customer based on the type of fruit, load volume, storage time and export conditions.

The main customers of the nanoabsorbent sachets include fruit sorting units, export companies and flower and vegetable suppliers. This complex enjoys the capacity to produce over 500 million sachets per year and, with a dedicated design for each type of agricultural product, offers a solution tailored to the needs of the activists in this field.

One of the most important competitive advantages of this company over similar products on the market is the increase in the shelf life of the products, reasonable price and superior quality. Especially in the export of sensitive products like kiwi, strawberries, cherries, pomegranates, bell peppers, and other perishable items, the use of these sachets can reduce waste, increase foreign customer satisfaction, and improve Iran's export brand.

In a relevant development in 2023, an Iranian nanotechnology company had also produced a new type of polymeric felt which is capable of absorbing sound in buildings to a high extent.

‘Negin Rose Sepahan’ company used nanotechnology to make the sound-absorbing felt composed of silica aerogel and nonwoven polyester textile which can be used on the floor and body of buildings to damp the noise and acoustic losses.

The sound-absorbing material in this product is a nanostructured ceramic whose presence leads to high absorption capacity of acoustic waves at intermediate frequencies and improved acoustic and noise damping capability.

The special felt can be applied on the floor and body of residential and office buildings, recording studios, theater halls, meeting halls, cinemas, exhibitions, car, helicopter, plane, train, and ship.
