Int’l Delegations Visit Iran’s Nanotechnology Achievements in Health

In this meeting, which was held in the presence of Emad Ahmadvand, the secretary of Nano and Micro Technologies Development Headquarters of the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the experiences of Iran in the development of nanotechnology, from the stages of scientific promotion to industrial and market-oriented achievements, were presented in detail.
He pointed out the growing trend of scientific articles, academic theses, the creation of technological infrastructure, and the successful presence of Iranian knowledge-based companies in the market for nanotechnology-based products.
Following the meeting, Mohammad Mehdi Seifi, the director of Business Development for Health and Wellness at the Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council, underlined Iran’s significant achievements in the field of nanotechnology applications in health.
He explained Iran's position among the leading countries in this field by presenting practical examples of nanotechnology products and technologies in diagnosis, treatment, and public health.
Among the invitees to the meeting were the Vice-President and Minister of Health of Venezuela, the Minister of Health of Cuba, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Iran, scientific and academic delegations from the National University of Medical Sciences of Venezuela and the IVIC Research Center.
They welcomed Iran's progress in this field, emphasizing the need for the expansion of scientific and technological cooperation and the exchange of experiences.
The meeting was part of Iran's scientific and technological diplomacy development programs, focusing on the priority areas of health and new technologies.
Official figures said in November that Iran’s exports of nanotechnology products in the past Persian calendar year (ended on March 19) increased 110 percent compared to a year earlier.
Iranian producers exported $145 million of nanotechnology products in the mentioned year, according to the official figures.
Iran had exported $69 million worth of nanotechnology products on March 21, 2022, to March 21, 2023.
The total value of Iran’s nanotechnology products in the past year stood at $1.62 billion, of which about 91 percent was sold in domestic markets and only nine percent was exported.
Also, the sales of nano-based products in Iran in 2023 increased by 104 percent compared to 2022.
The nano-coating technologies, nano-composites, and nano-catalysts accounted for the major share of the domestic market.
