“We have developed the software that can estimate losses after natural disasters,” Abbas Kangi, the managing director of Kani Sanat Shahvar Company, told ANA.

He made the remarks on the sidelines of the Islamic Azad university’s Asreh Omid Event, which was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla.

The software is able to improve the management of natural crises such as earthquakes, floods, landslides, and subsidence, he added.

For the time being, contracts have been signed with the government sector to improve natural crisis management in different cities.

The system consists of two parts, which include web-based software and an Android application, Kangi explained.

The web-based software is installed on the server and users use it by creating an account. The Android application is also installed on smartphones and connects to the web-based system.

Thanks to a feature called crisis reporter, users can report and send photos wherever an incident has occurred. The application detects the location and sends the information to the system, Kangi highlighted.

The Natural Disasters Management System automatically receives data every 10 seconds from the Geophysical Institute and the European Seismological Center and uploads them to our target cities and estimates the damage, he said.

Kangi added that the application does not predict, it estimates the damage. This is done through simulation in the software and provides good information to managers.

We tested three possible earthquakes by the system in Tehran to determine their losses and casualties. Managers can have a vision of the level of crisis and damage to infrastructure using the system, he concluded.

Having 81 different types of minerals, Iran is one of the top 10 mineral-rich countries across the globe. In this regard, the Iranian government is pursuing several programs for promoting the mining sector as a major contributor to the country’s economic growth.

Reza Mohtashami, the Deputy Industry, Mining, and Trade Minister, said in July that there are more than 15,000 mining machines, which are over 20 years old, in the fleet of mining industries of the country, which need renovation and replacement.

Asreh Omid Event was held with the participation of 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research teams, and startups.
