“Last year, nearly 21,400 recession reports were registered in the database, and we created two new tasks in the system; one is marine geological management, specially the Persian Gulf, and the other is an extraterrestrial system related to extraterrestrial geological studies, in which existing information from different countries like Africa and ECO member countries, etc., is recorded in the form of maps or reports,” Esmayeeli said.

He underlined significant progress in strengthening the geoscience database of Iran, and said, “At present, this database includes historical and valuable data that was not previously available to the public, while this data can help investors make better decisions about investing in the mining sector.”

In a relevant development in 2023, Iranian officials and their Austrian counterparts signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand mine exploration and geology cooperation.

According to a report by Iranian media, a bilateral memorandum of understanding between the Islamic Republic of Iran's Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization and the Natural History Museum of Austria was signed earlier this week to expand the two freindly countries' cooperation in the field of mine exploration and geology.

The memorandum of understanding was signed by Alireza Shahidi, the head of Geology and Mineral Exploration Organization, and Matthias Harzasser on behalf of Katrin Vohland, head of the Natural History Museum of Vienna, according to which, the exchange of scientific and technical capacities in various fields of geosciences was put on the agenda of the two sides.

According to the public relations of the Geological and Mineral Exploration Organization Iran, holding geoscience exhibitions, developing scientific cooperation in the joint field mission, data analysis and joint publications, as well as training new technologies in the fields related to the Museum of Geosciences, are mentioned as topics of MoU between Iran and Austria.

Also, in 2024, a trilateral agreement was signed between Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran or in brief GSI, the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation, known as IMIDRO and the Russian holding RosGeo.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation signed 19 cooperation documents at the end of the 17th meeting of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Cooperation Commission in Tehran late in February, which was chaired by Iran's Oil Minister Javad Owji and Russia's Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.

One of the 19 cooperation documents inked between Iran and Russia, was a tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) that was signed between Geological Survey and Mineral Exploration of Iran or GSI in short, the Iranian Mines & Mining Industries Development & Renovation, known as IMIDRO and the Russian holding RosGeo.
