Iran Develops over 50 First-Time Products in Goreh-Jask Project

Touraj Dehqani underlined the significant efforts by the oil industry specialists in completing the Goreh-Jask crude oil pipeline, which set a record for finishing a major project ahead of schedule.
The project's achievements should serve as a benchmark for future evaluations to better utilize technological capabilities, he said.
Over 50 first-time products were produced by the Iranian partners and companies in the oil industry for this project which shows the sector's capabilities. These accomplishments should be used as a standard for assessing the future projects, Dehqani said.
The executive operations of this major oil project, which began in 2019, reached the oil delivery phase on the coast by July 2021. In its first phase, the project created a capacity of 350,000 barrels per day, with pipelines and power lines constructed. Completed in less than two years with 90% progress, the project set a record for the speed of oil project execution, he added.
In a relevant development in December, Iranian researchers had succeeded in production of new coatings for oil and gas pipelines which are based on epoxy and polyurethane resin.
Protective coatings based on polymers are used to maintain and protect metal structures against corrosion in corrosive environments. These composite coatings consist of pigments, fillers, organic and inorganic polymer resins, organic solvents, and also special additives.
Depending on the use and application of each type of these coatings, their ingredients and percentage composition will be different. Also, the goals required for each organic coating are different.
The specific use of types of pigments and fillers in organic coatings is very important with respect to Pigment Volume Concentration, and their preparation with respect to the lower or higher amount of PVC can affect the permeability, physical, mechanical properties, and chemical resistance. These coatings can consist of several layers and the use of inorganic or organic polymer resins has significant effects on the quality of the organic coating.
The type of organic resin and its amount affect the adhesive or cohesive properties, rheological properties, uniformity, gloss, and electrochemical properties of the formed film. Also, the formation of the film as a thermoset or thermoplastic changes the performance of the organic coating on the quality and performance.
The presence of suitable and effective additives produced by the Iranian company that can affect the appearance properties of the film and the reactivity in the crosslinking of the polymer structure, as well as improving the application methods, is of particular importance; therefore, the research and study of any of these coatings, considering the wide variables available to researchers, provides a relatively wide field for research so that researchers can achieve their effective and required achievements in practice by using the most effective ingredients based on theory and experience.
