The drug, which is based on silymarin nanomicelles technology, can be effective in treating diseases, including fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, and acute and chronic hepatitis.

SinaLiv 70 is a soft gelatin capsule that contains silymarin in the form of nanomicelles. Silymarin, the active ingredient of this drug, is a natural flavonoid extracted from the milk thistle plant (Silybum marianum). This compound is widely known for treating liver diseases. Silymarin has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and protective properties and can play an important role in the prevention and treatment of a wide range of liver diseases, including fatty liver, liver cirrhosis, acute and chronic hepatitis and other liver damage caused by drugs and toxins.

Silymarin is encapsulated in the form of spherical nanomicelles, approximately 10 nanometers in size, in SinaLiv 70.

Nanomicelles are particles with special properties that can dissolve fat-soluble compounds in aqueous environments. This feature allows silymarin to be absorbed more effectively in the digestive tract.

In a relevant development last March, an Iranian knowledge-based company had also begun industrial production of herbal-therapeutic capsules for digestive and liver diseases after receiving finances from Saman Health Research and Technology Fund.

"We produce three types of herbal-therapeutic capsules, including Pipergin (containing ginger), Licorice Cap and Liverful capsules,” Fatemeh Hassanzadeh Aval, managing director of an Iranian knowledge-based company, told Iranian media.

She considered licorice extract as the main component of licorice cap herbal capsule, adding, "This capsule is used to regulate digestive secretions and protect against stomach ulcers, while pipergin herbal capsule with black pepper fruit product and ginger rhizome strengthen digestion, treat indigestion and capsule Liverful which is produced from thistle seeds, dandelion roots, and Plantago psyllium seeds which are used to protect the liver, regulate liver enzymes, and control fatty liver diseases.”

The managing director of the knowledge-based company said his company was financed by the Saman Health Research and Technology Fund, adding, “Our team was able to use the industrial production facilities of the Saman Health Research and Technology Fund to cover part of the production costs of these three herbal medicines.”

“These capsules will cause no side effects and can replace chemical antacid drugs and can be widely used to treat and resolve digestive and liver problems," Hamidreza Farhadi, the managing director of Saman fund, said.

“The therapeutic effects of these capsules are better than other similar foreign-made products. In the meantime, the Iran-made capsules have lower price in comparison with the imported ones. Also, the Iranian products have met standards from the country's Food and Drug Organization,” Farhadi continued.
