Iran’s MAPNA Group Building Home-Made Locomotives

The 50th and last 3,000-horsepower freight locomotive produced by MAPNA Group was personally tested by Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadeq.
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development also visited various halls for engine production, parts production, body production, assembly, and locomotive chassis.
One hundred Iran Safir passenger locomotives currently in operation in the country's rail fleet are among the first products of MAPNA Locomotive Engineering and Manufacturing Company.
A contract to manufacture 50 MAP 24 locomotives has already been signed and the products have been delivered to Mobarakeh Steel Company.
Another product of this plant, the MAP 30 locomotive, is in the completion and final testing stages, commissioned by Chadormalou Industrial and Mining Company.
MAPNA Group has divided the design and production stages of the locomotive into five main sections and several sub-sections across its factories to accelerate the production process.
These five main sections include design and production of the chassis and car body of the locomotive, the bogies, the power and control system, the power transmission system, and the braking system.
