Brazil Sees Jobless Rate of 6.6 Percent in 2024

TEHRAN (ANA)- Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) announced that unemployment the Latin American country stood at 6.6 percent of the economically active population in 2024.
According to the Continuous National Household Sample Survey, the South American country also broke a record in terms of employed people, averaging 103 million last year, up 2.6 percent year on year.
The statistics include registered and unregistered employees both in the public and private sectors, as well as those who are self-employed, said the IBGE.
Employees with a formal contract totaled 38.7 million in 2024, up 2.7 percent year on year, the institution added.
