Iranian Entrepreneur Meets Domestic Market’s Need for Masala Tea
By producing Masala chai (tea) in the knowledge-based company, the ground has been provided for producing and exporting the product, making the country self-sufficient in this regard.
Tahmasb Jinak, the entrepreneur, told ANA that the company has the mission of holding educational workshops to empower the workforce who are willing to work in hotels.
Jinak is a graduate of an MBA in business management from Tehran University. He completed his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering at the Islamic Azad University, Central Tehran branch, and has about 13 years of experience in the beverage industry.
Previously, Masala tea was imported from India at a high price and tea farmers in Gilan province threw away their tea leave wastes.
Now, we process and pack the harvested tea product with special spices and stabilizers in different flavors, turning it into Masala tea that meets the domestic market and can also be exported, Jinak said.
Masala tea is imported at around 2 million rials (about $7) per kilogram, he said, adding that the domestically-produced product is sold at 700,000 rials per kilo.
