Iranian Firm Receives Nano Standard Award for High-Strength Ready-Mix Concrete
High-strength self-compacting concrete with suitable workability characteristics can compact without the need for compaction and only under the effect of its own weight and has high efficiency. Meantime, it easily fills concrete molds with high reinforcement density or molds that cannot vibrate due to the shape of the mold, and has very good pumpability over long distances.
In addition, the use of self-compacting concrete reduces the cost and time of concreting and noise pollution during concreting. Also, self-compacting concrete will remain homogeneous during concreting and after that.
By reliance on technical know-how, continuous research and development, and utilizing nanotechnology in the field of ready-mix concrete production, the company has been able to produce high-strength self-compacting ready-mix concrete containing nanoparticles and improve the mechanical properties, water absorption, and the bond strength of metal rebars in self-compacting ready-mix concrete.
In a relevant development in July, Iranian researchers found a new way to produce stronger concrete by using low-cost materials.
“If possible, we want to achieve new technologies in high-strength concrete and composite concrete in the near future so that we can brand and send them to the market with lower costs and more accurate materials,” Kamal Khorramdel, a researcher and inventor and a faculty member of the Civil Engineering Department of the Islamic Azad University’s Mahabad branch, told ANA.
He stressed that the initial tests have proven successful in this regard.
“We are also working on concrete for the water tanks which are open and can reduce water penetration to zero,” Khorramdel said.
“Since the water inside the tanks contains chlorine and chlorine ions can be corrosive to concrete and reinforcements, the lack of water penetration can prevent the corrosion of concrete and rebars,” he noted.
