“We are the manufacturer of disposable electrocardiography electrodes in our company,” Amir Hossein Ariannia, the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA.

“At present, in addition to importing the product, eight Iranian companies are also producing the electrodes, and our product enjoys the high quality of foreign samples,” he added.

“Disposable electrodes are used as an interface between the human body and the electrocardiography device, and they are applied in exercise tests and play a special role in intensive care units and checking the patient's vital signs,” Ariannia explained.

“Our knowledge-based company has been able to indigenize the production line of disposable electrocardiography electrodes at the incubator center of Pardis Science and Technology Park,” he added.

The disposable ECG electrode is used for ECG or other biopotential measurements. It is composed of several adhesive electrodes, using nonwoven fabric material - a kind of breathable paper - cotton or PE and foam with medical hypoallergenic adhesive.

Iran is currently exporting medical equipment to 63 countries, including the European, Asian, and South American states, Director-General of the Iranian Food and Drug Administration (IFDA) for Medical Equipment Affairs Rouhollah Mazinani said last year.

Nearly 45 percent of the country’s requirements in the field of medical, dentistry, laboratory, clinical, hospital equipment, and related industries are produced inside the country in line with the policy of reducing imports, Mazinani said.
