Iranian Company Improves Quality of Polymer Films to Develop Packaging Industry
“The set of laboratories of our company includes a film laboratory and a polymer materials laboratory. All qualitative and research tests of polymer films used in packaging industries are conducted by this laboratory,” said Mahmoud Charmchian, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
Noting that the tests include measuring the mechanical, optical, physical and chemical properties of the products, he said, “Also, general quality control tests of polymer raw materials can be performed in this laboratory.”
“Optical properties testing devices with the ability to measure gloss, light transmission, opacity and optical density of all types of films and sheets are part of this equipment. Also, equipment for measuring physical properties of surfaces like kinetic and static friction coefficient, thermal seamability and surface tension, equipment for measuring mechanical properties including tensile strength and tear resistance, equipment for analyzing polymer materials like measuring volatile substances, melt index and filler percentage exist in our laboratories,” Charmchian said.
The Iranian companies have made good progress in producing different types of polymers.
In a relevant development last year, researchers at an Iranian knowledge-based company had succeeded in production of six groups of advanced and engineering polymers.
Based on an agreement signed between the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and the knowledge-based company, at least six groups of polymers with special properties will be fully indigenized within four years.
The knowledge-based company started 26 years ago with the aim of producing composites based on polymers, relying on the research and expertise of the Iranian manpower and using modern equipment and technology.
The company is equipped with a specialized polymer laboratory and produces a wide range of advanced polymer products and compounds, including composites reinforced with mineral fillers, glass fibers, impact-resistant, fire- and heat-resistant polymer composites, various polymer masterbatches and special alloys.
