Innovative Iranian Experts Improving Productivity in Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical Industries
Saeed Delavari a participant in the Islamic Azad University’s Asreh Omid Event said that considering the broad use of this technology in different industries, which increases efficiency and reduces costs, there is an urgent need for this technology in the market.
A specialized group has been formed in order to carry out research and attain new applied sciences, design, and equip industries with a focus on oil, gas, and petrochemical units, he highlighted.
Delavari said the research group consists of full-time chemistry engineering faculty members of the Islamic Azad University, Gachsaran branch, Ph.D. students of the University, and chemistry engineering experts with industrial experience.
Speaking to ANA on the sidelines of the Islamic Azad University’s Asreh Omid Event which was held in late May in Tehran’s Grand Mosalla, he added that the cost of production on a laboratory scale is estimated at 350 million rials (about $1,200), and the cost of production on an industrial scale varies according to the field of industry and the amount needed.
The Asreh Omid event aimed to exhibit new achievements and products in the technological and innovation arenas in line with opening new windows towards strengthening the idea of creating ground for knowledge-based businesses at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Islamic Azad University.
Over the past few years, the oil ministry has been seriously supporting knowledge-based companies and startups and several events, exhibitions, and panels have been held to encourage the mentioned companies’ contribution to the country’s oil and gas industry.
Back in January, Oil Minister Javad Owji said domestic producers are currently supplying over 70 percent of the oil industry’s needed equipment, adding that this figure can increase to 95 percent.
"Currently, a major part of the equipment and parts needed by all sectors (upstream and downstream) are supplied by domestic manufacturers".
Some 3,000 knowledge-based companies, laboratories, research centers, and startups took part in Asreh Omid Event.
According to the Global Innovation Index (GII 2022) report, Iran is the second most innovative country in the Central and South Asian region and the third among countries with low to middle incomes.
