Austria's Foreign Trade Declines in H1
TEHRAN (ANA)- Austria's foreign trade registered a weak performance in the first half (H1) of this year, with the imports declining by 12.2 percent and exports dropping by 5.5 percent year on year, Statistics Austria said.
The country's H1 imports stood at 94.05 billion euros (104.27 billion U.S. dollars) and exports at 96.9 billion euros, logging a trade surplus of 2.85 billion euros.
In June, Austria's imports dropped by 11.6 percent year on year to 15.48 billion euros, while its exports decreased by 7.6 percent to 15.97 billion euros.
Tobias Thomas, director-general of Statistics Austria, attributed Austria's continued lackluster performance in foreign trade to its declining trade volume with its neighbor and biggest trading partner, Germany.
In June, Austria's imports from and exports to Germany both fell by over 9 percent compared to the same month last year, Thomas said.
