Startup in Iran to Study Environmental Hazards, AI Application in Machine-Made Carpet Industry
“The ideas are assessed in two sectors; free ideas and machine-woven carpet technology challenge ideas, and the winners will be awarded,” Mansour Diari, the head of the Machine-Made Carpet Innovation Center of Islamic Azad University’s Kashan branch, told ANA.
“The second national ‘Farshup’ event will be held with a focus on technological challenges, including the environmental damage of the machine-made carpet industry, specially dyeing effluents, access to information on target markets, using artificial intelligence (AI) in carpet design, the dependence of machine-made carpet industry on raw materials and the dependence of the machine-woven carpet industry on machines and machine parts,” he added.
Elaborating on ways for registration in the event, Diari said that volunteers can participate by sending their ideas to the e-mail address info@mmchi.ir.
He added that the interested people can also visit the ‘Farshup’ event’s website at www.mmchi.ir .
The oldest machine-made carpets in Iran were produced in Kashan around 1971, which should have been the first machine-made rugs in the Middle East. Kashan has been the hub of the textile industry in this region and has played a leading role in the textile industry since then.
Over 80% of the Iran’s machine-woven carpet factories are located in Kashan and its surroundings such as Aran and Bidgol. That’s why this city has a reputation not only in Iran but also in the world.
Today, high-density machine-made carpets like 1200-reed and 1500-reed ones are manufactured in Kashan. Such carpets have eye-catching elegance and their texture is so fine that looks very similar to a hand-woven carpet.
