Moldovan Honey Exports Double Year on Year in H1
TEHRAN (ANA)- Moldova's honey exports doubled year on year in the first six months of the year and authorities expect further growth, announced. Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Dumitru Alaiba.
In the first half of 2023, the beekeepers exported 900 tons, and in 2024 the amount of honey exported reached about 1,900 tons, generating 82 million leu (about 4.62 million U.S. dollars), wrote Alaiba in a post on Facebook.
According to the country's Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry, Moldova has 9,421 authorized beekeepers. Popular honey varieties include poly-flower, lime-tree, and acacia, among others.
The Moldovan parliament on Wednesday approved a draft to annually mark National Bee Day on May 20, aiming to promote the consumption of honey and apicultural products.
