Mexico's Industrial Activity Expands 1.7 Percent Year-on-Year in Jan-May
Construction activity surged by 11.8 percent during this period, significantly boosted by civil engineering works, according to INEGI's monthly report.
Additionally, the generation, transmission, distribution, and marketing of electricity, as well as the supply of water and natural gas through pipelines, grew by 2.3 percent year-on-year during the same period.
In contrast, mining activity declined by 2.9 percent year-on-year, and the manufacturing sector saw a slight decrease of 0.2 percent in the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year, according to the INEGI report.
The administration of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, which will conclude at the end of September, has estimated that the Mexican economy could grow between 2.5 and 3.5 percent this year.
