Vietnam's Pepper Exports Up 30 Percent in H1

TEHRAN (ANA)- Vietnam has shipped abroad 142,586 tons of pepper worth 634.2 million U.S. dollars in the first six months of 2024, down 6.8 percent in volume but up 30.5 percent in value over the same period last year, Vietnam News Agency cited the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association as saying.

The total export turnover of black pepper reached 539.9 million dollars while that of white pepper hit 94.3 million dollars.

The United States was the largest importer of the Vietnamese spice in the period with 37,435 tons, accounting for 26.3 percent of the total and up 44.6 percent year on year.

The average export price of Vietnamese pepper increased by 1,000 dollars per ton compared to the same period last year.

The association predicted that Vietnam's pepper volume in 2024 will decline by 10 percent to about 170,000 tons, the lowest level in five years.
