Tanzanian Delegation Welcomes Presence of Iranian Knowledge-Based Firms in African Country
A Tanzanian delegation along with other delegations from African nations visited Tehran for the second International Iran-Africa Summit held in Tehran between April 26-29.
Attending the event was a good way to increase the knowledge of East African countries, including Tanzania, about Iranian-made products and domestically-developed know-how and technology, a report by the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science and Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy said.
Tanzania's geographical location on the shores of the Indian Ocean and its easy access and proximity to the most important economic region in West Asia, especially the Persian Gulf gives it a priority to Iran to do business with doing business with by Iranian businessmen.
Iran's major export data-x-items to Tanzania include bitumen, petroleum and other paraffin waxes, cement, cast iron kitchenware, uncooked food pastes, bitumen mixtures based on natural asphalt, containers (tankers), clinker cement and medical grade vaseline.
The Tanzanian business delegation was surprised by the export capabilities of Iranian companies when they visited iHiT in Tehran.
Head of International Science and Technology Interactions Cooperation Amir Hossein Mirabadi, who was accompanying the Tanzanian delegation on the visit, told reporters that Africa was one of the major Iranian targets for the development of cooperation.
During this visit, Minister of Trade of Tanzania Kitila Mkumbo announced his country's readiness for exchange of knowledge and technology between Iran and Tanzania, adding, "We will use the experiences of Iranian companies and we are looking for a better business relationship between Iran and Tanzania."
"We cannot increase our production alone, in this regard, development of [relations] is necessary, and for that, we are looking for more cooperation with Iran. They have proposed holding a specialized exhibition event in Tanzania with the participation of powerful Iranian knowledge-based firms to supply (express themselves) to Tanzanian businessmen and officials and businessmen of East African countries this year," he went on to say.
