Malaysia's Car Sales Rise 10 Percent in March
TEHRAN (ANA)- Malaysia's car sales rose 10 percent month-on-month to 71,052 units in March, the Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) said.
The rise was due to a rush for deliveries by companies having their financial year ending on March 31, 2024, and Eid al-Fitr festive season promotional campaigns, the MAA said in a statement.
However, on a year-on-year comparison, the March car sales dropped by 10 percent from 78,881 units a year ago.
From January to March, the total car sales grew 5 percent year-on-year to 202,245 units.
As for car production, total units declined by 12 percent year-on-year to 66,923 units in March.
From January to March, car production increased by 6 percent year-on-year to 210,431 units.
According to MAA, car sales in April are expected to be lower than March 2024, because of the short working month due to festive holidays.
