The statistics agency said the 1,455,393 live births registered in 2022 is equivalent to a crude birth rate of 13, or 13 births per thousand population.

The agency said 3,987 babies were born daily, translating to 166 babies born per hour or approximately three babies born per minute.

With around 110 million population, the Philippines is the 13th most populous country in the world.

In 2022, more males (52.1 percent) were born than females (47.9 percent), resulting in a sex ratio of 109 males per 100 females, the PSA added.

The agency said that the most births registered in 2022 occurred in September, followed by October and November. On the other hand, February had the least number of births.

The data also showed about nine in ten newborns weighed more than 2,500 grams, the World Health Organization's standard birth weight.

Most babies were born to mothers aged 25 to 29. However, 58.1 percent of the babies were born to unwed mothers.
