Russia's Imports Up 18.3 Percent in First 9 Months of 2023, Exports Fall

TEHRAN (ANA)- Russian imports amounted to 213.3 billion U.S. dollars in the first nine months of 2023, marking an 18.3 percent year-on-year increase, while exports decreased by 29.4 percent year-on-year, the Russian Federal Customs Service said.

Data from the service show Russia's trade turnover amounted to 530.2 billion dollars in the first nine months of 2023. Exports reached 316.9 billion dollars, while imports amounted to 213.3 billion dollars during this period.

The trade surplus in Jan.-Sept. 2023 amounted to 103.6 billion dollars, said the Federal Customs Service. Meanwhile, trade between Russia and Asian countries increased in the same period, with both exports and imports showing notable growth.

Russian exports to Asian countries reached 226.6 billion dollars, demonstrating a 10.3 percent year-on-year increase in the first nine months of 2023, while imports amounted to 139.7 billion dollars, and also rose by 39.5 percent.
