Iran Exports 700 Million Euros of High-Tech Products
“The sales of knowledge-based companies have reached $640 million, the exports of high-tech products has increased to 700 million euros, and the ratio of high-tech product exports to the total trade is 1%,” Mostafa Safdari Ranjbar said.
He also added that Iran's ranking in the Global Innovation Index (GII) in 2022 and 2023 is 53 and 62, respectively.
“Also, we rank 72 and 37 in registration of international patents in the prestigious databases of EPO and USPTO, respectively,” Mostafa Safdari Ranjbar said.
Earlier reports, in October, also said that Iran’s ranking has ascended 50 positions from 113th in 2013 to 63rd in 2023 in the GII, according to a report by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The report said that Iran has ranked 63rd among the 132 most innovative countries.
It added that Iran has shown the fastest performance in innovation growth and ranks as the second most innovative country in the Central and South Asia region.
The report also underlined that India, Iran, the Philippines, Turkey, Vietnam, and Indonesia are among the top 65 economies that have shown the fastest growth in the rankings in the last decade.
The GII is a reliable device for governments around the world to measure social and economic changes. Over the years, the GII has established itself as a policy tool for various governments around the world.
According to the Global Innovation Index Ranking, which has played an important role in taking the National Innovation Ecosystem to immense heights, all the units of the Department of Science and Technology, like the Biotechnology Department, Space Department, Electronics and IT Ministry, Telecommunication Department, IT Ministry, Agriculture Research and Education Department, and Health Research Department, are included.
