Official: Iran Rendering Overhaul Services to Planes of Different Countries
Countries from Latin America, Europe, and Asia bring their planes to Iran for repair and maintenance services or send the engines of their planes to the country for overhaul operations, Mohammadi Bakhsh said.
He added that planes sent to Iran for repair and maintenance operations are Boeing and Airbus, adding that it has been for years that no Iranian planes have been sent to other countries for repair and maintenance services as Iran has turned into a destination for overhauling services of other countries’ planes.
This important national achievement has been made while Iran is under the toughest sanctions imposed by Western countries, including the US, Mohammadi Bakhsh said.
In relevant remarks in October, Iranian Vice-President for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy Rouhollah Dehqani Firouzabadi announced that the country’s knowledge-based companies have signed several contracts with Russia to overhaul and maintain aircraft.
Dehqani Firouzabadi told reporters that the Russian companies have signed big and lucrative contracts with Iran for airplane repair and maintenance.
“We are a producer of airplane parts. The grounded airplanes at Mehrabad (airport) are due to be handed over to knowledge-based companies for the supply of parts or engines,” he underlined.
Also, in July, Ali Akbar Safayee, the CEO of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) had also announced the conclusion of a contract with Russia to build six ships in the Caspian Sea.
Representatives from the three countries of Iran, India and Russia attended the Tehran meeting to discuss the International North-South Corridor. Iranian Road Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash represented Iran in the meeting, in which they discussed facilitating maritime transport in the Caspian Sea as part of the corridor.
