Official: Iran-Made Nano Drugs Save over 90 Million US Dollars of Foreign Currency in 7 Years

TEHRAN (ANA)- A senior Iranian official announced that the nano-based medication produced by the country’s scientists have saved over $90mln of foreign currency in the past 7 years.

“Based to our assessments, Iran has exported $9mln worth of nano drugs in the past 7 years and the sales of anti-cancer nano drugs inside the country is also estimated at 3,700 billion Rials,” Emad Ahmadvand, the head of the headquarters for the development of nanotechnology affiliated to the Iranian Vice-Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

He noted that the exported anti-cancer nano drugs include Sina Doxosome, Padynex, and Paclinab.

“Iran's anti-cancer nano drug products have also saved over $90mln of foreign currency in the past 7 years,” Ahmadvand said.

The development of plans to export nano products in recent years and the creation of nano export bases in China, India, Indonesia, Syria, Turkey and Iraq have provided a platform for presenting the Iran-made nanotechnology goods, equipment and services to the global market.

Iran's nano products have been exported to 49 countries in 5 continents, so far.

Iran has made nanotechnology a priority in recent years, achieving lots of success. In January 2022, the nanotechnology research website StatNano ranked Iran as fourth in the world in nanotechnology publications.

“The number of scientific articles is deemed a significant parameter for measuring and comparing scientific development,” read the StatNao report.
