“Given the importance of using digital platforms for exports, the TPOI held negotiations with several platforms, including Tik Tok, WeChat, etc., last year, and as a result, we signed an agreement with one of the big platforms in China so that we can use it to export goods,” Zeyqami said.

“So far, we have been able to present four products, including saffron and rose water, on this platform, which of course can be used to export other goods, and this is an opportunity for the country,” he added.

Zeyqami noted that the Iran-made products can be easily sold to the target markets abroad by using foreign platforms.

He underlined that the TPOI has opened a gateway for boosting trade and economic activities with the African, Southeast Asian and Latin American countries.

In relevant remarks in September, a senior Iranian official had announced that the value of Iran’s saffron exports has increased 52% in the first five months of the current Persian calendar year (March 21-August 22) compared to the same period last year.

Spokesman of the International Relations and Trade Development Committee of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade Rouhollah Latifi said that the Iranian saffron farmers exported 81.521 tons of the product valued at about $88 million in the first five months of the current Iranian year which shows 66% increase compared to the same period last year.

He added that the Iranian saffron was exported to 47 world states in the same period.

China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Spain, Qatar, and Afghanistan were the top five destinations for Iranian saffron, Latifi said.
