Iran-Made Knowledge-Based Drug Treats Leishmaniasis
“One of the products in which herbal immunomodulators are used is Leish G1 cream with a therapeutic effect on cutaneous leishmaniasis which is now being used in medical centers, hospitals, health and skin clinics,” said Fariba Nemati, the managing director of the knowledge-based company.
“Leish G1 is a high-tech product which has been made as a result of research and studies by researchers and scientists of the company for more than 20 years, and it has completed the laboratory and clinical phases, and during this period, its formulation has been optimized,” she added.
Nemati explained that the effectiveness of the natural product Leish G1 on small wounds is 100% and in large wounds it acts similar to the standard foreign medicine.
“This product, which is effective in the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis from various aspects, enjoys unique features; since one of the main problems of leishmaniasis disease is the scar left after treatment, the Leish G1 product has this unique feature that in addition to treating the disease, it can also repair the scar in small and medium-sized wounds,” she noted.
Earlier, Experts at an Iranian nanotechnology company had also managed to produce a new topical gel which can treat cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) disease.
‘Exir Nano Sina’ firm has made the product which is a topical gel based on the nanoliposome technology and its main component is a polyene anti-parasitic and anti-fungal drug.
The gel can be typically used for treating the cutaneous leishmaniasis and has trivial side effects and lower cost.
The encapsulation of the main drug by the nanoliposomal structures has led to promoting the drug penetration into the affected tissue and reducing the detrimental side effects of the drug on the body.
The cream can be used for the treatment of cutaneous leishmaniasis and topical fungal diseases.
